Summary of the House Committee Version of the Bill

SCS SB 335 & 16 -- INSURANCE IDENTIFICATION CARDS

SPONSOR:  Rupp (Yates)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Insurance
Policy by a vote of 12 to 0.

This substitute creates the crime of knowingly or intentionally
producing, manufacturing, selling, or distributing a fraudulent
insurance identification card, a class D felony.  Any person who
knowingly or intentionally possesses a fraudulent insurance
identification card will be guilty of a class B misdemeanor.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2010, FY 2011, and
FY 2012.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the bill addresses the problem
of producing and possessing fraudulent insurance cards.

Testifying for the bill were Representative Yates for Senator
Rupp; Missouri Insurance Coalition; and Property Casualty
Insurers Association of America.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
